Conflict and challenges exist in every intimate
relationship. While many couples can identify their
contentious issues, they are often unable to resolve them.
And despite their best intentions, they continue to
repeat the same patterns that result in frustration and
pain.
Consider this possibility: The issue may not be the
issue! I make this assertion not to minimize
interpersonal struggles and serious concerns, but to suggest
that: It is the way a couple tries to deal with the issue
that becomes the issue. I continually observe this
dynamic in therapy sessions involving sex, money and
parenting.
